Window boxes overflowing with colourful flowering plants transform the often drab exterior of a building. They’re a common sight in towns and villages throughout Britain and decorate cottages and pubs

Familiar annual species such as petunias, lobelias and nemesias are among the most popular plants for use in window boxes, but almost anything goes  with a great variety of other plants are suitable for this form of container gardening – including ivy geraniums, calibrachoas, pansies, alyssum, verbena and begonias.
