GRASSHOPPERS FLIES, BEES, WASPS BUTTERFLIES & MOTHS CATERPILLARS OTHER INSECTS BUY A PHOTO
Australia is home to more than 500 species of grasshoppers, and while several are common insect pests in gardens where they feed on succulent foliage, only a few species form the large swarms that cause severe damage to commercial crops.
Gardeners may not welcome the arrival of grasshoppers, but the presence of a few of these familiar insects causes minimal harm to plants. The good news is that they attract wildlife to urban gardens, for grasshoppers are an important ingredient in the diet of many species of birds, as well as lizards and frogs that are part of the wildlife community of any backyard that has a healthy and balanced environment.
