Queensland is famed for its coastal landscapes, with World Heritage listed Fraser Island being one of the state’s most popular tourist destinations. The images in this photo gallery show the island’s natural attractions, including its beaches, its freshwater perched lakes, including Lake MacKenzie and Lake Wabby, and Indian Head. There are also photographs of the shipwreck of the Maheno, and of 4 x 4 vehicles on 75 mile beach that is the island’s main highway,
This gallery also includes photos of another Queensland island, Lady Musgrave Island, a coral cay that’s part of the Great Barrier Reef.
Images of mainland coastal landscapes include photos of mangrove trees and of beach erosion triggered, perhaps, by rising sea levels that are a consequence of climate change.
Here you’ll find pictures of the extensive Urangan pier and the beach at Hervey Bay, of Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, and of the curiously named coastal Town of 1770.
Other photos include scenes of colourful sailing boats at Baffle Creek, of people heading out fishing in a dinghy, and the extensive beaches of Eurimbulah National Park where a recreational angler can be seen in his small boat where Eurimbulah Creek meets the Pacific Ocean.
