Australia is home to five species of cormorants, four of which are shown here. This gallery includes photos of the Pied Cormorant in varied poses, including in flight, and also features images of its smaller relative, the aptly named Little Pied Cormorant in addition to pictures of the totally black Great Cormorant and the Little Black Cormorant.

The Black-faced Cormorant, which inhabits coastal areas of the southern Australian mainland and Tasmania. is not included in this gallery, but I hope that, in the not too distant future, I’ll be able to obtain photos of this lovely waterbird to add to this continually expanding collection of images of Australian birds.
