wombat in the wild

wombat in the wild in Wollemi National Park

Wombat D622 - The Australian wombat is the world's largest burrowing animal. The gaping entrances to their cavernous networks of tunnels are easy to discover in the heart of any forest environment that they inhabit, but catching a glimpse of one of these appealing native animals is not so easy, for they are nocturnal. This wombat was photographed at dusk in the Wollemi National Park in NSW.
